GestPath is a pathological anatomy procedures management system which digitally processes the whole workflow involved in the studies, therefore covering all its areas and users.
GestPath endows the diagnosis process with full traceability, management tools, quality control systems, security at any step and standardization of tasks. It also provides a pathological anatomy department with total control and implies a decrease in the expenses associated with its activity.
GestPath was developed by a team of specialized engineers and pathologist with an experience of more than 20 years and it has been online since 2009

Procedures management
GestPath is not only an information or report elaboration system: it is a pathological anatomy procedures management system. It selects the appropriate path for each study while monitoring their status and it also manages the distribution of each operator’s pending task.

Connectivity and automation
GestPath connects with requesting services in order to the carry out electronic requests and to send digital reports. GestPath also connects with any machine associated with the study, thus automating work orders that are to be performed.

Total traceability
GestPath records all the activity associated with each study: each stage’s validation, the samples’ path, which dyeing machines were used and what quality controls were applied; all is included in total traceability reports.

Quality
GestPath manages and standardizes any incidents and their related nonconformities in any phase of the studies. All pre-defined information, customizable and adaptable to each service, may be viewed in panels that were specifically designed for that purpose.

Management
GestPath provides multivariable data analysis tools, so that data associated with not only the department’s activity, but also with the production, workloads, traceability of studies, etc., can be analysed. The multivariable analysis can be performed by origin centre, dates, coding, diagnostics, etc.

GestPath, coverage and safety in the diagnosis process

Specimen registration
Associates and identifies the samples with the electronic request date; maximizes security and generates the necessary information so that the automation of the study may begin; the labelling includes identification codes; pathologists are assigned according to workloads; necessary files are included in the case; etc.

Grossing and macroscopic study
It automates: the introduction of the type of material (based on official SEAP catalogs); the macroscopic study; the printing of the identification codes of each block (traceability of the sample); and the choice of the technical procedure to be carried out.

Lab
It identifies the tasks to be performed within the laboratory as a list of pending tasks; it introduces control points so that the samples may be traced; it automates the sample’s entering in and exiting from the staining machines.

Microscopic study and diagnosis
It customizes the management of: all pending tasks by pathologists; microscopic studies based on predefined templates; the capturing and linking of microscopic images to the case; the digital dictation (automatic audio transcription); the request for special techniques; and the automation of the SNOMED-CT coding associated with the study.

Layout, signature and report submission
It automates the report’s layout based on templates. Review in PDF format and electronic signature by chip card. The report is automatically sent to hospital systems by mail or published on the Path-Cloud platform.

Sample’s archive
It digitizes the files of containers, blocks and slides, both temporary and definitive, and records any introduction or removal of samples from the archive.
